Visit to China November 2024

The relationship between Africa and China has grown significantly over the past two decades, particularly in areas like infrastructure development, trade, and investment. China has become a major player in Africa, primarily through investments in infrastructure, such as roads, railways, ports, and power plants. In return, Africa provides China with access to valuable natural resources like oil, minerals, and agricultural products. This weekend I visited one of my clients to see for myself what China has to offer and I can definitely say I was impressed by what I saw. My first visit to China will now definitely not be my last, perhaps I was late coming to the party but now that I’ve seen it for myself it’s incredible. Take for example the high-speed train (HSR) that I travelled on, at one point travelling at over 300Kmph, I know back home in Manchester & the North of England we’d be delighted to have this kind of infrastructure in place. In my case visiting China provided me with a front-row seat to the significant role and opportunity China plays in shaping Africa’s economic landscape. Hopefully I will be returning to China soon.
