I’m currently recruiting for an international food commodity organisation who operate in West Africa, They have several operations and many different divisions and are a Truly mammoth sized organisation who help provide vital food commodities in West Africa.
They are now looking for a General Manager (MD designate) who can provide vital leadership for one of their flagship divisions. Ideally with a grain or food commodity background your role will be to organise supply chain aggregation, own the manufacturing business and provide commercial input. As the No1 for this company division you will have full P&L responsibility and overall responsibility for its success.
GM Position Requirements
- GM should have a skill set / background bias towards operational, supply chain, commercial relationship building and business development.
- Develop and drive the implementation of the strategic plan
- Initial focus of GM is to improve raw material resiliency (availability, cost, consistency and quality) and subsequently to execute
- Commercial and technical capabilities to grow the local content supply chain.This includes product formulation, market development, building the supply chain and implementing the quality controls that balance quality and sourcing.
- GM ultimately accountable for Business P&L and performance
- Requires commercial acumen and know how, relationship building
- Meet fiduciary Board requirements
Commercial
- GM must be capable of building B2B/C customer relationships.
- Build supply chain relationships and quality monitoring procedures for local content grains.
- Manage pricing of finished goods and manage approvals with commercial management on basis of suitable margin benchmarking to raw material cost
- Provide sales leadership to increase market share
- Develop cost models and volume plans to incrementally grow the volume.
- Maximize the utilization of the assets.
- Ability to discuss business opportunities with NGO’s.(i.e. World Food Program)
Technical and Operational
- Possess strong technical skills to manage and monitor the processes.Drive improved results.
- Improve quality management process for the current milling operation and the local content supply chain process.
- Ensure a safe work environment
- Ensure the quality and food safety of the production
