Finance Director, Nairobi Kenya

I’m currently recruiting for large international distribution business that’s based in Nairobi, Kenya but that operates throughout Africa.

My client now seeks to recruit a Finance Director for the Kenyan business and as such you will have primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities of the company. This is a big role and includes business planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling,  ERP systems, internal controls and risk management. Reporting to the Managing Director and the Group Financial Controller you will be part of the senior management team.

General responsibilities will include: –

  • Lead and manage the finance and admin team
  • Assist in implementing the company’s strategy
  • Delivery of detailed monthly management accounts and reports for the holding company
  • Managing the preparation and delivery of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis
  • Manage and liaise with auditors in delivering audited annual accounts.
  • Ensuring the control environment is robust and appropriate to safeguard company assets.
  • Develop and produce timely and appropriate reports and data to assist the MD in managing the business.
  • Support the MD in monitoring and directing the strategic business plans.
  • Manage and drive the reduction of working capital – principally stock and debtors.
  • Lead and manage the financing of the company – developing and negotiating banking facilities (where applicable).
  • Lead on due diligence and assist in negotiations with potential vendors / customers.
  • Liaise with investors and key stakeholders.
  • Manage the FX exposure
  • Develop financial and tax strategies.
  • Ensure that records are updated and maintained in line with all regulatory and compliance requirements

The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant (CPA/ACCA or similar international qualification with good standing with the relevant professional membership body.)

This is a hands-on role and would suit a Divisional FC / Head of Finance from industry looking to step up to a new challenge.

The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, have international experience, be able to identify key trends, risks and opportunities within the business and have a good grasp of the detail. It is essential that you have a proven track record of driving improvements, cost savings, working capital management and executing financial and company strategy and managing strategy, good financial modelling experience.
