CFO – Kenya

My client is an early-stage impact invested Agricultural organisation who working with the local community grow a variety of agricultural products. The management team has worked together for many years and through their contacts, experience and credibility in the market have secured funding from investment and Venture Capital.  

They now seek to hire a CFO; this position is the missing link in the management team and is fundamental to the success and development of the business. As CFO you are going to be rolling your sleeves up and helping with all manner of tasks. Although not a start-up my client is similar in nature to a start up business so it will need someone who is adaptable and able to lend a hand with financial and business tasks. Day to day you may be involved with the analysis of gross margins and looking at costings, you may also be talking to the banks and institutional investors. You’ll be looking at trends of the business and with financial planning and analysis working with the MD and team to provide vital information. You’ll almost certainly be interacting with the local community and communicating with them to explain the business needs and their part in this growth.

The role is about the growth of the company, current projections are significant with annual turnover doubling each year. With this growth systems and procedures will be needed as will the need to audit and check things. It’s going to be about controlling the company, as CFO you will have to decide and mange expectations. The company will be looking at you for guidance and you will at times have to provide firm communication as to what can and cannot be done.
